Blast Resistant Guard House

Homeland security concerns have increased significantly since September 11, 2001. Security service providers and specifiers are often looking for blast-resistant guard houses that can protect security personnel and other workers from being harmed by explosive devices and accidental blasts. For instance, the framework for blast-resistant guard houses has to be heavier than for standard guardhouses.

There are two kinds of blast events: accidental and acts of terrorism. If you need a guard house that protects workers from an accident at a chemical plant, typical guard booth specifications include blast resistant design, while guard houses for protecting security officers from terrorist attacks require both blast-resistant and bullet resistant construction.  Bullet resistant guardhouses are more common.

All specifications for blast-resistant guard booths are based on the type or size of explosive device, the standoff distance between the guard house and the explosion, the pressures exerted during the over pressure and reflective pressure phases, and the duration of the blast events. The building will be designed to suit the customer’s needs regarding the perceived threat level.
