What Booth Size do I Need for my Guard Booth?

Guard booth size is an important consideration when choosing your guard booth or security booth. Larger guard booths might seem best, but there are often constraints on available space and budget. Proper security booth dimensions should be considered seriously. Whether you are protecting a military base, an industrial plant, construction site, parking lot, carnival, office building, or even a seasonal event, choosing the right guard booth size is pivotal. Proper security booth dimensions ensure your security team can utilize the guard booth effectively. Par-Kut International designs and builds portable steel buildings from small guard shelters to medium guard booths to large guard houses. In this blog, we are going to focus on Par-Kut standard guard booth sizes and how to determine the right size security booth for you.

Par-Kut Standard Guard Booth Sizes

When it comes to choosing the right guard booth size, you will probably want to know the standard security booth dimensions first. Par-Kut standard security booths range from 3′ x 6′ to 10′ x 12′ as one-piece units. Custom guard booth sizes are also available upon request. Larger guard house and security building sizes such as 12′ x 58′ may require a two or three module design that require some onsite work to join them. There is no simple answer for the question of what the proper security booth dimensions are. To determine the right guard booth size, there are several things for you to consider. In the next paragraph, we are going to explain how to choose your guard house dimensions.

How to Choose your Guard Booth Dimensions

  • Consider the staffing of the guard booth.  Will this location be 24/7 or only part time?  Generally full time security booths are larger and usually include a restroom.  Another size consideration is whether visitors will enter the booth.
  • Choose a security booth that is large enough to house the security personnel and equipment that you need; how many security guards will use your guard house and what kind of equipment will be used and/or stored in the booth. Typically, the 6′ x 8′ security booth can accommodate one or two security officers comfortably inside. If you need more guards or equipment such as surveillance video monitors, computer screens and more inside the booth, a minimum 8′ wide x 10′ or 12′ long booth would be desirable.
  • Unless there is a valid exemption, prefabricated guard booths  should be ADA compliant and may require an ADA restroom due to the distance from the security booth to an ADA restroom elsewhere onsite. Generally, an ADA compliant guard booth would be approximately 6′ x 8′ size. An ADA compliant guard booth with restroom would be about  6′-6′ x 16′-0″ in size.
  • Consider whether your security booth is fixed or mobile. Any size  prefab guard booth can be easily moved by forklift or crane, but if you plan to move your security booth more frequently, a smaller size trailer mounted guard booth or a smaller mobile security booth on caster wheels might be best.  Fork lift pockets can be built into a small booth for frequent moves, too.
  • Choose the security booth that is best sized to fit your budget. The larger booth size, the greater the investment.  Consider the must haves in the booth if the pricing is too high and pare back the size while keeping the most important things for the location.
